The typical stages of our operation are pre-press, mounting, printing, and washup. Some days I mount the plates using the VIPER video plate mounter to make sure they are precisely positioned for printing. Other days, I work in pre-press to make sure the jobs are ready to run. I also take a turn at washing up when we have to change inks. That’s what makes my job so interesting, I’m not standing in the same place doing the same thing every day.”

Steve Martin takes engineering drawings, determines the material needed to build that unique conveyor system, compares those needs with what Continental has in stock, and orders what’s needed. It takes extensive knowledge of metallurgy and materials plus expertise in many computer applications. His typical day involves coordinating purchasing and electrical contractors, interpreting drawings, and helping to implement Lean-Five S.

Millwrights move, assemble and maintain almost every piece of machinery that can be found in industry, including shafts, bearings, mills, conveyors, robots etc. Seth says that millwrights even get to work on the roller coasters that can be found in theme parks such as Canada’s Wonderland. In addition, a millwright may also perform duties of a general labourer, pipefitter, carpenter, and welder when arc welding and oxyacetylene cutting.

In addition to tasting for quality, Ashley oversees production, tests for viscosity and fineness, and makes sure the proper samples are taken for third-party biological testing. She also contributes to the development of new products, such as Donini’s lines of chocolate specifically prepared to compliment different wines.
