The Manufacturing Resource Centre (MRC) is an active agent working on behalf of manufacturers in Hastings County, Lennox & Addington County, Northumberland County and Prince Edward County and the separated municipalities of Belleville and Quinte West.
The MRC is a new and innovative service for manufacturers that:
- Enhances the performance of the local manufacturing workforce
- Improves knowledge of and access to programs and services
- Increases economic and workforce readiness
- Improves attraction and retention capabilities
- Coordinates manufacturing labour activities
Many organizations are stretched to the maximum running their day-to-day business. They have little or no time or resources for issues such as investigating government funding programs, keeping abreast of government legislation or coordinating training with other companies. The Manufacturing Resource Centre is an additional resource which these companies can draw upon and provides them with the help they require to maintain and grow their businesses.
The need for this resource was indentified in the “Greater Quinte Region, Manufacturing Local Labour Market Report, Strategic Blue print for Economic Growth” (3.7 MB). The report was developed in conjunction with regional manufacturers. The ten point plan that came out of this process included the creation of a centralized manufacturing support office to assist manufacturers with value added services and activities not readily available on a regional basis.
